Make a player trading period after the regular season
The S.H.I.F.T.—the Seasonal Hearing on Interclub Formations and Transfers—is convened by T.R.A.D.E., the Tribunal for the Registration and Adjudication of Displaced Employees. Le Council wishes the following understood before the first filing lands: T.R.A.D.E. registers movement between clubs. It does not authorize it. The distinction has been raised with T.R.A.D.E., which agrees. Each club's front office files its proposed movements. The club's shareholders then vote them up or down. A shareholder who does not vote is recorded as having approved, on the Tribunal's stated principle that an absence of objection is an objection that was not made. The Tribunal is not presently in session. It convenes once a season, in the gap between the Rest Day and the first matchday of the next—which is to say, within the fortnight.
Dearest L'argence, Almighty Ice, and my fellow Hokay patrons. Why should teams with low luck in their visits to the 6th be cursed with no way to rid themselves of the burden of a equally cursed player. What I am suggesting is a trade period after the season when teams could trade players with modifiers that better fit their play style. This will also increase excitement in the speculation market over probable trades and shakeups in the leagues currently frozen rosters. Please lend me your stamps and Loonies to make this pivotal moment in Hockay history a reality.
I could see this working one of three ways:
1 The teams trade players as their coaches see fit with no input from the fans. This has the Pros of being fair and in the spirit of the game being semi-randomly generated however has the Cons of possibly continuing teams bad RNG streaks and situations where your fan favorite players get traded.
2 The shareholders of the teams vote on what they would like the team to do in the off season with larger shareholders having larger percentage of the vote. This has the Pros of fans have some engagement and control while ultimately the trades being done by the teams coaches with the share holders wishes in mind. The Cons of this plan are the wealthiest fans get a disproportionate amount of the vote and the less lucky in luck fans get strong armed by the shareholders.
3 Every fan that has a team marked as their favorite gets to vote on the teams prospects in post season. This has the Pros of including every fan equally regardless of wealth and ensures the fans who have the most emotionally staked on a team get a vote on what the team's future is.
The Cons of this are it is a lot on the back end to tally the votes and is not truly in the spirit of following an RNG sport as a spectator.
For options 2&3 I imagine the fans/shareholders would fill out a preferred voting form with options on what players they are most willing to trade down to least and positions they most want traded down to least. With this it would still be up the the coaches of the teams what trades go through.
