Season Awards

While much has been done to celebrate the teams and fans that make Hockay great, I think more can be done to recognize the truly great players making magical moments day in and day out. As such, this petition proposes end of season awards be given out based on player's regular season performances. These rewards could be purely cosmetic, or potentially confer some sort of bonus.

While this petition is simply for the creation of this sort of award, I will lay out the system that I would use.

Awards:
MVP: Given to the player who made the largest contribution to their team winning games over the course of the season.

Best New Player: Not relevant this season, but given to a player in their first season who best contributed to their team.

Goalie of the Year: Often overlooked, this would award the most outstanding goalkeeper over the course of the season.

While more awards are possible, 3 keeps things manageable and clear. Other awards, such as the top player at each position, fan favorite, best defense, etc. are possible, more player statistics would need to be made available in order for fans to make intelligent voting decisions.

Award process:
At the conclusion of regular season play, the relevant governing body selects a list of 5 candidates for each award. The body then compiles those names, and presents them to the fans along with relevant statistics as to why those players have been nominated. Fans are then allowed to vote, one time only, for who they think should win (personally, I would also consider restricting it to fans who logged in over a certain threshold of times throughout the season). The voting period would close before the Finals, and be announced at a time Le'Council views as appropriate.
