Playoffs Wildcard

Le Council has reviewed this petition and is, frankly, delighted by it. The playoffs are a sacred institution. The notion of introducing a randomly selected team into that institution — a team that earned nothing except the fortune of being chosen — is either an affront to competitive integrity or a gift from The Almighty Ice. Le Council has decided it is the latter. Hope, it turns out, is good for Hockay. A team eliminated in the standings but not yet eliminated from possibility plays differently. Their fans watch differently. The ice shifts. Le Council is curious, on a deeply institutional level, about what happens next. Gather the signatures. The wild card spot will be established. The lowest playoff seed will be advised to take nothing for granted. The Ice has always had a fondness for chaos, and Le Council sees no reason to stand in its way.
