This Week in Hockay: November 8th

Le Council·

Twenty matchdays are in the record. Twenty-six are not, and the first of those is being played as this dispatch goes out. It is the third Second Chance Sunday of Season 04.

This week, Le Council reports what changed, not who won. The table is where it always is.

Graine Wetsky Funds finished its paper and named what it found. Le Council opened its register of cards. Binders now turn their pages. A guild's threads can now light the lamp. A petition put shares on open ice this morning, and the record found the assists it had missed. Le Council reports all of it.

Ice That Gathers Remembers

On the 3rd, the Funds lodged a short notice against all forty-eight registers. Their Research & Development wing had finished the paper it began in October. R.I.N.K. measured the sheet at Graine Wetsky Arena the same morning. It measured 25.0 millimetres.

On the 5th, the Funds published the paper. It runs to forty-one pages. Le Council has read all of them.

  • The sheet does not wear because recovered ice keeps the arrangement it was raised in, and draws water back into its place.
  • The wing took ordinary water, from an ordinary tap, and taught it the same arrangement. The Funds call the result an isotope of water. They have named it Ice-O-Tope.
  • It sets only on real Ice. It is measured by the kcup. It does not melt.
  • R.I.N.K. reviewed the method and found no fault in it. R.I.N.K. was asked to review the method.

The Funds say they did not make it. They say they found it. Le Council has asked where it was. Water was not missing anything.

Ice-O-Tope goes on sale at 00:00 UITC tomorrow. The Funds have asked to tell citizens how it works themselves. Le Council has agreed to let them.

The Funds asked that one line be carried with this dispatch:

We are very happy with our first building. We have been thinking about a second.

Le Council asked a second what. The Funds said they would much rather citizens heard it from them.

Who Holds What

On the 3rd, Le Council amended the register of cards. Until then, The Collection listed every card the Confrérie has struck and said nothing about where any of them went.

Your own list is under My Wishlist, in the Collect menu.

Le Council publishes the register. It does not broker the deal.

A Binder Turns Its Pages

Until this week, a citizen looked through a binder one card at a time: open a card, close it, open the next.

A card opened from a binder, or from The Collection, now pages through the grid it came from, in that grid's order and through its filters.

  • Flick it sideways.
  • Use the arrow keys.
  • Use the buttons under the card.

The viewer shows where it stands: 4 of 20. At either end, it stops. It does not wrap around.

Hockay's apps page the same way from their next build.

The Guild Threads

A guild member may now have the lamp light for the guild's threads: every new thread, and every reply, by another member.

  • It is off until you turn it on.
  • The switch is on your guild's Threads tab, and in L.A.M.P. Settings under Your Guild's Threads.
  • With it on, the lamp also pushes to your devices, outside your quiet hours.
  • It never lights for what you post yourself.

A guild's motion to bid in Series ∞ is now checked when it is filed: against the size of the round, the minimum bid, and the guild's ownership cap. Until this week, a motion could pass the vote and then lapse when it was carried. Le Council considers that the wrong order.

Open Ice

The petition to set aside shares for open ice carried on the 31st, with one hundred Seals and Ⱡ1,031,484,244. Thirty-seven citizens put their names to it. Le Council enacted it on the 2nd.

Round 4.2 resolved at 00:00 this morning. It was the first round to release.

  • When a round resolves, Graine Wetsky Funds puts a further block of shares in every team straight onto open ice, at the price the round settled at.
  • The Funds back each of those shares at that price, so the release does not move it.
  • Anyone may buy them on the Exchange, without a bid. They trade at the pool's price, with the usual fees, under the same ceiling.
  • The board shows each team's release before the round resolves. A citizen who bids knows what goes to open ice behind them.

Le Council does not publish the size of the next release. S.L.U.S.H. sets it from how this one trades. S.L.U.S.H. does not promise a size. S.L.U.S.H. promises to watch.

The Record

The record now counts every second assist. Until this week, it credited a goal's first assist and not its second. Every game of Season 04 was short of assists, and so of points. Le Council has corrected the season.

Last week's dispatch gave the points lead on the old count. It has been recounted. Some citizens will find that a player has more points than they did a week ago. The player has not changed. The count has.

Every modifier pill now shows its kind: positive, negative, ambiguous, or weird. Since March, every modifier pill on a player read as ambiguous. Le Council had filed seventeen modifiers without their kind. They carry it now.

The five Marks stay ambiguous. That is on purpose.

No game was affected. The pills changed. The players did not.

That is the week. The Funds took water from a tap, and named what came out. Le Council published who holds which card, and who wants it. Binders turn their pages. A guild's threads light the lamp for the members who ask. The first shares went to open ice this morning, and the record found the assists it had missed.

Ice-O-Tope goes on sale at 00:00 tomorrow. Le Council will carry the Funds' terms when they are lodged. Le Council has asked to see them first.

Stick around.
