Shavings guide & Meta

With so many new folks, I thought people might want to know what's the deal with shavings, and as the whole GWF arena debacle is over, I am happier to share me secrets as to how I collected the 250k shavings donated to the Geese (plus a hefty bunch still in my pockets). What are shavings?
Shavings are the loose bits of Ice that get scraped up by skates, and cleared off by the Jambono. Graine Wetsky Funds paid to establish a marketplace where we, as players, could purchase these shavings. They also managed to collect ~1 million shavings, creating the Graine Wetsky Funds arena, neutral ice where the final is played. An artificial arena is consider blasphemous, but that is besides the point.

What do we do with shavings?
Collect them, eat them, or donate them to your Parish (the Church for your Team). The donations to your Parish is the big one, and each parish keeps their own count of relics (shavings) donated.
The teams with the most shavings during the last season had one player on the team gain a mysterious, one of a kind, modifier. The effect of these modifiers was, and still is, unknown. It appears that as season 4 begins, most of these modifiers have left the players they were attached to. It is unknown what this means.

How do we get shavings?
At the end of each period, the shavings will go onto the marketplace. Within a few seconds of the shavings going onto the marketplace, usually someone will buy all the shavings within a few seconds (we have a few resident shaving hoarders, me included).
At the ends of periods 1 and 2, the shavings go onto the marketplate always during X:17 and X:37. The exact second may be different, but it will be within the minute
At the end of period 3, shavings will go onto the marketplace during X:57 if the game does not go into overtime. If the game does go into overtime, the period 3 shavings appear at X:02, the beginning of overtime. Overtime and shootout shavings go live within the minute that the OT/SO ends. OT/SO shavings usually last a little longer due to the uncertainty of when they appear, but they still dont often last long.
Games by teams stewardes by GWF (Helsinki and Busan) will not have shavings available.
You can set alarms for this if you want, but this is bad luck. You are far more likely to get shavings if you are in tune with the ice and the periods ending.

Shaving meta
Often times, people will immediately buy the entire batch of shavings. However, part of the developing meta is occasionally buying a smaller amount, that is faster to type and enter (such as buying 5 shavings, or 444 shavings). What this does is makes it so anyone who tries to buy the entire batch of shavings will get a "not enough shavings remain" message. To see how many shavings remain, they have to refresh the whole page, which often gives you time to buy the remaining shavings. A counter to this is if you get "not enough shavings", you can buy your own small amount, which will refresh the remaining amount, and can also have the same effect on the person trying to snipe the shavings.
