El Ávila presents the assessment team with the only arena it has actively declined to describe in full. The ice is of the verglas form—clear and hard, the lone example in its manifestation. Under the Camouflage designation, the Chameleons adopt the visual profile of the visiting team, and pass-interception rates surge accordingly: the opponent, in effect, plays against a mirror that keeps its own counsel. The Building
Built against the mountain on the northern edge of the city, in raw concrete that was poured in place and has weathered to something close to the color of the slope behind it. From the valley the building is difficult to pick out, and the assessment team's photographs of it, taken on four separate days, are not obviously photographs of the same structure. Inside there are 26,100 seats in a steep single sweep and a mountain wall as the northern boundary of the building—unfinished rock, lit from below, with cloud coming over the ridge and down into the upper tier for part of most evenings.
